The Coalition of Ulama and Islamic Organizations in Kano State has called on politicians, their supporters, and residents of the state to embrace peaceful and responsible political conduct in order to safeguard public peace and unity.
In a press statement issued Thursday ,the Coalition expressed concern over recent incidents of violence and the growing use of abusive and inflammatory language during political engagements across the state.
The statement, signed by the Coalition’s Secretary, Dr. Saidu Ahmad Dukawa, warned that such actions pose serious threats to public safety and undermine the moral and cultural values of Kano society.
The Coalition urged political actors to concentrate on issue-based campaigns rather than personal attacks and provocative remarks capable of inciting unrest among supporters.
It also appealed to citizens, particularly the youth, not to allow themselves to be manipulated into acts of violence, thuggery, or any form of disorder during political activities.
According to the statement, politics should be conducted with decorum, mutual respect, and a strong sense of responsibility in line with the religious and cultural traditions of Kano State.
The group further commended ongoing efforts by authorities and relevant stakeholders aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and responsible political participation among citizens.
The Coalition concluded by offering prayers for sustained peace, unity, and progress in Kano State.
