The Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and community safety following the arrest of four suspects linked to alleged illicit drug activities in Gwale Local Government Area.
The Commander General of the Corps, Lt. Col. Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik (Rtd), disclosed this while parading the suspects before journalists, emphasizing the agency’s resolve to combat crime and social vices across the state.
He explained that the arrests were made after residents raised concerns over the growing presence of individuals suspected to be involved in drug-related activities within the area. Acting on credible intelligence, the Corps launched a coordinated operation that led to the apprehension of the suspects.
The operation, according to him, was carried out under the supervision of the Director of Operations, Habibu Balarabe Madigawa, alongside Sector Commander 1, AWO Kabiru Isyaku.
Abdulmalik stressed that the Corps remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard lives and property, adding that it will continue to collaborate with communities and other security agencies to rid Kano State of criminal elements.
He further noted that professionalism, discipline, and diligence will continue to guide the activities of the Corps in the discharge of its responsibilities.
The suspects identified as Ahmad Sani, Halifa Umar, Sadiq Umar, and Sulaiman Abubakar—allegedly confessed to their involvement in the unlawful activities and appealed for leniency, promising to turn a new leaf.
The Corps said the suspects would be handed over to appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
According to a statement signed by the Director Public Enlightenment, Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, the corps also called on members of the public to sustain their support by providing timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance efforts at maintaining peace, law, and order across the state.
