Kano Students Condemn Political Thuggery, Say Education Can’t Thrive In Violence

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Kano State Independent Students Consultative Forum(KSISCF) has condemned the perpetration of political thuggery in the state, describing the act as unacceptable.

The Forum made the condemnation at the formal inauguration of the State Executives and AKY Students’ Campus Ambassadors held at the NUJ pess centre,Kano,on Sunday.

“We categorically debunk and condemn any politician, regardless of party, who is supporting or sponsoring thuggery in Kano State.

“Education cannot grow in an atmosphere of violence and fear. Kano belongs to students, traders, farmers, and law-abiding citizens, and not to political thugs.

“We call on security agencies to investigate, arrest, and prosecute sponsors of violence without fear or favour,” the group which spoke through its Chairman, Comrade Abubakar Saad, said.

The Forum then declared its total solidarity and support for the second term bid of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, saying that the Governor eminently deserves re-election in 2027.

It particularly cited the Governor’s giant strides in the education sector to which the group said he allocated over 30 percent of the state budget.

The group also recalled that the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration had, since its inception in 2023, recruited 20,000 new teachers, built 1,000 new classrooms, and 200,000 units of furniture to schools across the state.

The government also provided free WAEC, NECO, and JAMB examination forms, 50 percent tuition fees cuts and 1,001 foreign scholarships, which the Forum said, made Kano to now lead in the country.

“This is what the Abba Gida-Gida mandate promised, and this is what it has delivered. Education is the foundation of all development, and under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, that foundation is now solid.

“Kano State is reclaiming its place as a leader in the Nigerian education sector, and this is not by accident, it’s through a deliberate commitment and sacrifice

“Students stand with a leader who has stood with students. The investments in classrooms, teachers, scholarships, and tuition reduction speak for themselves,” the group added.
