A popular traditional medicine practitioner, Alhaji Musa Kawu Wanzami, has described the death of Kano businessman, Alhaji Ado Aminu (Mai Shinkafa), widely known as Alhaji Ado Lamco, as a huge loss that has created a vacuum difficult to fill.
Alhaji Musa Wanzami, who operates his business close to Lamco Pharmacy adjacent to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), said he had known the deceased for over 20 years. He described Alhaji Ado as a generous, simple and kind-hearted gentleman who touched many lives through acts of compassion.

According to him, Alhaji Ado Lamco lived a life worthy of emulation, always ready to support the less privileged and contribute to the well-being of people around him.
Another long-time neighbour, Malam Inusa Mai Lemo, who has lived in the area since the establishment of the pharmacy, also recounted the deceased’s unwavering support for the needy. Malam Inusa, a fruit seller who operates in front of the mosque built by Alhaji Ado, said worshippers patronise the mosque daily and often speak of the late philanthropist’s kindness.
Both men offered prayers for the repose of his soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant his family continued blessings and the strength to bear the loss.
Alhaji Ado Lamco, aged 70, died on Monday, 17 November, in a Cairo hospital where he was receiving treatment. The respected medical entrepreneur is survived by 15 children—10 males and 5 females.
His funeral prayer, led by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, drew hundreds of mourners who accompanied the remains to Dandolo burial ground, where he was laid to rest amid emotional scenes from family, friends, business associates and members of the community.
