Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has sworn in two newly appointed commissioners, charging them to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving the people with loyalty, competence and dedication to the administration’s development agenda.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House in Katsina after their confirmation by the Katsina State House of Assembly.
The newly inaugurated commissioners are Sani Ali Ahmed and Mannir Sullubawa.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Radda described the occasion as an important step in strengthening governance and repositioning the state for sustainable development.
According to him, the addition of the two commissioners will further enhance the capacity of the State Executive Council to deliver on the administration’s “Building Your Future” development blueprint.
Radda said Hon. Sani Ali Ahmed had played a significant role in the growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, noting that he served as the pioneer secretary of the party during its formative stage before later becoming the state chairman.
The governor described him as one of the most successful party chairmen in Katsina’s political history, stressing that the party recorded major electoral victories during his tenure.
“Under his leadership, the APC achieved overwhelming successes. Today, Katsina remains one of the few states where virtually all elected officials belong to the ruling party,” Radda said.
On the appointment of Hon. Mannir Sullubawa, the governor described him as an experienced technocrat who had served the state diligently in different capacities within the civil service.
He expressed confidence that Sullubawa would bring his wealth of experience and administrative competence to strengthen governance in the state.
Governor Radda also explained that the appointment was partly aimed at addressing a representation imbalance in the cabinet.
He noted that although Katsina Local Government previously had two commissioners in the cabinet, none was from the Katsina metropolis.
According to him, the new appointment marks a historic development as the metropolis had not produced a commissioner since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999.
The governor further reminded the newly sworn-in commissioners of the significance of the oath of office they had taken.
“Leadership is a trust and a responsibility before God and the people. I expect you to support this administration wholeheartedly and discharge your duties with integrity, loyalty and the fear of Allah,” he said.
Radda urged them to work closely with other members of the executive council and align their activities with the government’s priorities in security, education, healthcare, agriculture and economic development.
He congratulated the commissioners and tasked them to remain focused and committed to delivering tangible results that would improve the lives of the people of Katsina State
