Why is Taqwa the Goal of Ramadan?
Allah explains this in the Qur’an (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183):
“O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may attain Taqwa.”
This means fasting is not only about staying away from food and drink. It is meant to train the heart and character.
How Fasting Builds Taqwa
1. Self-Control
You avoid food and drink even when you are hungry.
This teaches discipline and control over desires.
2. Awareness of Allah
Even when no one is watching, you still keep the fast.
This builds a strong sense that Allah always sees you.
3. Kindness and Compassion
Feeling hunger reminds you of the poor and needy 🤝
It encourages charity and generosity.
4. Purifying Behaviour During Ramadan Muslims try to avoid:
Lying
Backbiting
Anger
Bad habits
This helps develop a clean heart and good character.
In Simple Words
Ramadan trains the soul.
When the month ends, a person should become:
more patient
more honest
more generous
more conscious of Allah
That state of constant awareness of Allah is called Taqwa, and that is the real success of Ramadan. 🌙✨
