Father Lauds DSS For Rescuing 3-Year-Old Son Four Days After Kidnap

    By Abdallahi Yusuf

Malam Haruna Hamza, father of a 3-year-old child, has commended the Department of State Services(DSS) for rescuing his son, four days after his kidnap.

Hamza, told journalists in Kano on Friday that he was highly impressed by the fast intelligence networking of the DSS that led to the rescuing of his son, Muhammad Haruna, and the arrest of the kidnapper.

It was gathered that Muhammad was kidnapped by a 19-year-old suspect,Aminu Tukur, who demanded a N15 million ransom for the release of the toddler.

“I thank Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala for the rescuing of my son, Muhammad,by the DSS and I thank the DSS too, for subsequently releasing him to me, four days after his kidnap,” Hamza said.

Earlier,Malam Haruna Hamza had written a Letter of Undertaking to the DSS expressing his appreciation and commendation to the security agency for freeing his son from captivity and releasing the child to him, accordingly.

The letter reads:”I, Haruna Hamza, the father of Muhammad Haruna, received my son who was rescued by the DSS on 12th February 2026 after being kidnapped and he is in good health.I highly commend the Security for their resilience and hardwork.”

However, Haruna disclosed that after taking his son home and reunited him with his mother, the Police invited him and told him that they had arrested one woman in connection with the case.

“I have been with the Police since 1.30 p.m. till 4 p.m. this Friday, and they took my statement and informed me that the woman is also part of the kidnapping syndicate,” he said.

The suspect,Aminu Tukur, who is still in the DSS custody, however, insisted that he committed the act alone and without any influence from anybody.

“I alone I did what I did because I needed money to settle my N100,000 debt, although I requested for N15 million ransom, but I told myself that if they didn’t pay the ransom,I will return the boy home without hurting him,” the suspect said.
