The Tinubu Support Groups under the leadership of Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi have officially declared their full support for Malam Ibrahim Shekarau as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kano Central Senatorial seat, following the strategic endorsement by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf. The development marks a significant moment in the political landscape of Kano Central ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Dan’agundi revealed that the decision came after wide consultations and careful political assessment. “For the sake of better representation, unity, and consolidation of our party’s strength, we have resolved to support Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, who remains the most experienced and capable candidate to lead Kano Central to greater heights,” he stated.

He explained that although the group had earlier endorsed Malam Garba Yusuf Abubakar and invested heavily in promoting his candidacy across the 15 local government areas of Kano Central, the shift in support does not in any way diminish those efforts. According to him, all structures built around Malam Garba Yusuf Abubakar have now been fully aligned to support Malam Ibrahim Shekarau. “Our investment is not wasted; rather, it is being redirected towards a more strategic and unifying course for the overall success of our great party,” he added.

Dr. Dan’agundi described Malam Ibrahim Shekarau as a rare leader whose legacy of service, humility, and people-centered governance continues to resonate across Kano State and beyond. He emphasized that Shekarau’s track record as a former governor, his unwavering integrity, and his deep connection with the grassroots position him as a symbol of hope and dependable leadership. He noted that Shekarau’s compassion, generosity, and commitment to social justice have earned him the trust and admiration of the masses.

The Tinubu Support Groups also commended Abba Kabir Yusuf for his inclusive and visionary leadership, noting that his ability to unite party members regardless of differences has strengthened the APC in Kano. The group praised the Governor’s bold and timely endorsement of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, describing it as a clear demonstration of statesmanship and dedication to the progress of the party. According to the statement, the Governor’s support has further energized party faithful and reinforced confidence ahead of the elections.

Dr. Dan’agundi further expressed optimism that with Malam Ibrahim Shekarau as the APC flagbearer, Kano Central is poised to sustain its tradition of strong and effective representation in the Senate. He stressed that the coming together of political structures, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters under one united front will significantly boost the party’s chances of victory.

Reaffirming his personal commitment, Dr. Dan’agundi declared: “Even if I were to contest for this same position, I would willingly step down for Malam Ibrahim Shekarau in the interest of unity, progress, and the future of our party. His leadership is what Kano Central needs at this critical time.”
