Yobe’s frontline governorship aspirant, Kashim Musa Tumsah MFR, has pledged to fully address the problem of power supply facing journalists at the state’s Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ).
Kashim Musa Tumsah fondly called KMT,
made the pledge on Thursday during a media parley when he visited the council’s secretariat, as part of his private visit to the state.
A statement by the Spokesman of KMT Campaign Organization,Malam Abubakar Ahmed, said Tumsah dropped the hint having observed that there was no light to power the the secretariat for conducive coverage of the event.
And he was informed by the Chairman of the council that the alternative power source, a standby generator which was providing electricity to the building due to the persistent power outages from the national grid, had become overwhelmed.
The aspirant then promised to immediately come to the aid of the council, noting that information dissemination would be very slow without electricity to power the system and gadgets used by journalists.
He told the media practitioners that he drove straight to the secretariat to pay homage to them because of the critical and strategic position they occupy in nation building.
KMT also promised to always carry them along as partners in progress, and thanked them for the reception accorded him and members of his entourage.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Rajab Mohammed, while welcoming the aspirant, said the council was highly honoured to receive him as a special guest who recognises the importance of media and its practitioners.
He said KMT should always feel free to approach members of the council for all his publicity needs and that they would not disappoint him.
KMT who was in the state on a private visit, was, however, overwhelmed by the crowd of supporters who waited for his arrival all day long, having received the news of his coming.
