Dr Kano Reacts To KPCF Withdrawal And Clarification

RESPONSE TO THE WITHDRAWAL AND CLARIFICATION BY THE KANO PATRIOTIC COALITION OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS FORUM (KPCF)
I have carefully read and duly noted the public statement issued by the Kano Patriotic Coalition of Civil Society Organizations Forum (KPCF), clarifying its position and formally distancing itself from the allegations earlier credited against me. I acknowledge this statement and warmly welcome its withdrawal and clarification in the true spirit of brotherhood, comradeship, and responsible civic engagement.
I particularly commend the Forum’s emphasis on tolerance, inclusiveness, respect for diversity, and its call for civility, restraint, and calm in civic and political engagements. These values are the very foundation upon which credible civil society activism must stand, and I appreciate KPCF’s decision to publicly reaffirm them. Such a stand-down posture contributes meaningfully to social harmony and democratic maturity in Kano State.
It is important to place on record that my earlier response was issued before the Forum’s withdrawal and clarification became public. It was therefore a reaction to the initial reports and narratives as they stood at the time. I trust that this context is clearly understood and appreciated.
I also welcome KPCF’s reassurance that it does not support or condone discrimination, intimidation, or the demeaning of any individual or group, including persons with disabilities. This position aligns with constitutional principles, moral responsibility, and the shared values of equity and human dignity that bind us as citizens and comrades in the civic space.
Going forward, I respectfully advise—and I do so in good faith—that greater care be taken to verify facts thoroughly before issuing public statements, particularly on sensitive matters that can inflame tensions or misrepresent individuals. Accuracy, balance, and fairness are not optional virtues; they are essential obligations of any credible association operating within the civic and democratic space.
I appreciate the Forum’s call for unity, peaceful engagement, and constructive partnership with government and other stakeholders, and I reaffirm my own commitment to respectful dialogue, principled engagement, and the pursuit of justice and inclusion through lawful and responsible means.
In conclusion, I thank KPCF for this clarification and for its call for calm. Let us all be guided by the understanding that balance and fairness must remain the bedrock of any association that seeks to speak for the public good.
    Comrade Abdussalam Muhammad Kani
