    Banditry:Gov.Yusuf Visits President Tinubu,Urges Intervention

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says he has sought for the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the lingering insecurity in some parts of the state.

The security challenges are characterized by banditry, kidnapping and other forms of crime being perpetrated by criminals crossing in from the neighbouring Katsina State.

Yusuf disclosed this while addressing the people of Faruruwa village in Shanono Local Government Area, one of the communities recently affected by banditry and kidnapping.

The Governor said he delivered the request when he visited the president and briefed him on the security situation in the state and asked for his intervention.

He said the request was accompanied by complaints from people of the affected communities and pictures of the mayhem perpetrated by bandits and other criminals.

He expressed delight at the President’s response when he immediately directed the the Chief of Army Staff to act on the matter who also ensured the deployment of troops to the affected communities.

According to the Governor, the troops are now working with personnel of the Nigeria Air force, the police and other security agencies under a Joint Task Force to contain the security breaches in the affected areas.

He said the State Government on its part is closely working with the security personnel,as well as giving them all necessary support in order to “nip the security challenges in the bud.”

Addressing the troops earlier, Yusuf described the infiltration of bandits and kidnappers into the state as unfortunate,as Kano is presently the most peaceful state in the North.

He commended the troops for their commitment and gallantry in the restoration of peace in the affected communities.
