
Hundreds of mourners on Saturday evening trooped to the Emir of Kano’s palace to witness the funeral rites of Alhaji Ado Aminu Mai Shinkafa, popularly known as Alhaji Ado Lamco.

The funeral prayer, held shortly after the Asr prayers, was led by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II. A massive crowd later escorted the remains of the late entrepreneur to the Ado Dandolo Cemetery, where he was laid to rest.


Alhaji Ado Lamco, a prominent medical and pharmaceutical businessman, was the founder of Lamco Pharmacy, a well-established pharmaceutical brand in Kano. He died on Monday, 17 November 2025, in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, where he was receiving medical treatment. He was 70 years old.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed “deepest shock” over the passing of the respected businessman, describing him as “a symbol of excellence” who devoted his life to uplifting others. He praised Ado Lamco as a “renowned entrepreneur in the medical and pharmaceutical industry whose contributions will be remembered for generations.”

The late Alhaji Ado Lamco is survived by 15 Children , 10 males , 5 females ,family members, associates, and a legacy of impactful service to the health sector and the Kano business community.
