Gov.Yusuf Presents N1.3trn 2026 Budget To Kano House Of Assembly

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Wednesday presented a N1.368 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

Tagged:”Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development,”Yusuf said the budget is a financial plan designed to accelerate infrastructure expansion, deepen inclusive growth and entrench sustainable development across the state.

He said the proposal was crafted to complete major ongoing projects, consolidate gains recorded in key sectors, and introduce new initiatives that would further boost the state’s socio-economic transformation.

According to him, the N1,368,127,929,271 budget allocates a substantial portion to capital development in line with his administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps and improving public services.

The Governor disclosed that N934.640 billion is earmarked for capital expenditure, while N433.487 billion is set aside for recurrent expenditure, maintaining a capital-to-recurrent ratio that prioritises long-term investments over routine spending.

He said the 2026 budget proposal reflects his administration’s determination to deliver impactful projects in education, healthcare, road construction, water supply, security, empowerment programmes and urban renewal.

He urged the Assembly to give the proposal accelerated consideration to enable timely implementation of development programmes in the coming fiscal year.

In his remarks, the Speaker of the House,Hon.Jibril Fagore, commended the Governor for his commitment to transparency and people-centred governance, assuring that the Assembly would carry out a thorough and speedy review of the budget.

Falgore also lauded the executive for always carrying members of the House along and promised that the Legislature would give adequate attention to the proposed budget.

He commended members of the public for their collective support and prayers and pledged that the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration would always execute laudable projects aimed at moving the state to greater heights.
