    As Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s shift from NNPP to the APC was finally concluded, last Tuesday, analysts and stakeholders have identified Hon. Murtala Sule Garo Garo as a uniquely qualified candidate to stabilize and strengthen the administration, as his co-pilot.

    The Governor is expected to announce a full “Transition Cabinet” that will accommodate members of the APC very soon, following resignation of some members of his cabinet who choose to move along with Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, leader of Kwankwasiyya movement.

    As they tendered their resignations, their vacant positions have to be filled to ensure continuity of governance.

    Now that full political alignment is unfolding, the deputy governor is expectedly given way soon, and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will announce by the first week of February 2026 the “Transition Cabinet”, for the State that will likely feature a 50/50 split between the Governor’s side and the APC, his new political party.

    Murtala Sule Garo is a strong contender for deputy governor alongside Abba Kabir Yusuf.

    Garo’s impressive track record and grassroots credibility make him an ideal fit. As a former Commissioner for Local Government, Garo has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, prioritizing sustainable rural development, human capital investment, and transparent governance.
    Garo’s key strengths lies in Grassroots mobilization, administrative expertise, loyalty and integrity.

    Being a Grassroots mobilizer, Garo is capable of mobilizing youth and communities across Kano’s 44 local government areas.

    Moreover, as an administrator for a long period of time, he will come along with his administrative acumen and expertise which will bear on the State administration. He has the experience in infrastructure development, education, and local governance.

    Garo’s commitment to his community and track record and demonstrate reliability makes him the most suitable, as the Governor will operate with a person that has total loyalty and integrity.

    Some of his key strengths also lies in his:
    – Strategic Vision: He is a “political engine” capable of driving votes and collective ownership of Kano’s progress.

    Why is Murtala Sule Garo most suitable?

    First and foremost, are his commitment to excellence, capacity to handle complex situations and dedication to duty without being rude. He is a humble person, loyal and very respectful.
    Added to these factors, are the following reasons;
    – Zonal Representation: Garo hails from Kano North, ensuring regional balance.
    – Bridge-Builder: He can link existing structures with the APC’s network, easing party switch and policy execution.
    – Stabilizer: Garo’s inclusive approach and grassroots credibility foster stability and boost voter turnout.

    With Garo as deputy, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf can expect a strong, cohesive administration, driving Kano’s development and securing a triumphant second term in 2027.

    Garo’s ability to manage party members with a balance between the old and new APC members makes him a valuable asset that can serve as Co-pilot with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
