Task Force Inaugurates 9 Committees To Intensify Fight Against Drug Abuse, Trafficking In Kano State

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Chairman of the Multi Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Trafficking, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado Esq, has inaugurated nine subcommittees charged with the task of strengthening the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State.

A statement by Lamara Garba, member of the Task Force’s Media and Publicity Committee, said that during the inauguration, the Chairman charged members of the subcommittees to demonstrate greater commitment, dedication and determination in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Barrister Muhyi Magaji reminded the sub committee members of the enormity of the task before them, stressing that the success of the Task Force would depend largely on the seriousness and commitment with which each committee approaches its assignment.

He urged the members to redouble their efforts, work collectively and remain focused on the objectives of the Task Force, noting that the fight against drug abuse and trafficking requires sustained commitment, effective coordination and a shared sense of responsibility.

According to him, the committees were established to provide a more coordinated and specialised approach to tackling the various dimensions of the drug problem, while ensuring that relevant stakeholders work together towards achieving lasting results.

The nine committees inaugurated are: Finance, Media and Publicity; Advocacy and Sensitisation; Licences, Inventory and Verification; Compliance, Inspection and Electronic Tracking; Monitoring and Implementation; Intelligence; Reformative and Traditional Council; and Anti Drug Coordination Committee.

The structure also provides for coordinated responsibilities across the various areas of intervention.

The Chairman urged the members to see their appointments as a call to service rather than a mere assignment, stressing that the responsibilities assigned to them demand discipline, professionalism and a strong commitment to the collective interest.

He further encouraged the sucommittees to maintain effective collaboration and ensure that their activities translate into concrete results in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and trafficking.

The inauguration marks another step in the efforts of the Multi Agency Task Force to strengthen institutional coordination and broaden the response to drug-related challenges, with the committees expected to contribute their expertise towards building a more effective and sustainable anti-drug campaign.
