    Shanono:Bandits Abduct 5 Nursing Mothers,Cart Away 50 Cows

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

Bandits on Sunday attacked Yan Kwada village in Faruruwa community of Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State and abducted five nursing mothers from their matrimonial homes.

The terrorists who stormed the community on motorcycles, also carted away 50 cows and an unspecified number of other animals.

The Chairman of the Security Committee of Faruruwa and the surrounding communities, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, confirmed the development to Journalists in Kano on Monday.

Bagobiri expressed dismay at the persistent attacks by bandits in the area, despite the deployment of heavily armed military and other security personnel in the area.

He said following the sunday attacks, hundreds of residents of the area had fled to safer areas in other parts of the state.

According to him, residents of the area have continued to suffer daily attacks and stealing of their animals by the bandits, alleging that nothing is being done to stop them.

“We continue to experience these attacks almost on daily basis, despite the presence of the military and other security personnel in the area.Even when the bandits came yesterday,we alerted the security personnel but nothing was done until the terrorists raided our houses and whisked away the nursing mothers.

“They detached the new-born babies from their nursing mothers and threw them away.

“One among the abducted nursing mothers luckily escaped and returned to her matrimonial home, but the other four are still with the bandits,” he said.

The Chairman, therefore, appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other top security echelons to intervene and save the area from the bandits’ mayhem.

“We appreciate the government’s immediate response to the situation by deploying the military and other security personnel to the affected area, but we request that more troops and equipment be mobilized to save us from the activities of the criminals,” he added.
