PDP Crisis:Sule Lamido Urges Jigawa Stakeholders Not To Despair

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has urged stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in the state not to despair as the party’s leadership is making efforts to find a way forward.

Lamido made the call during a meeting of the Jigawa stakeholders held at his Sharada office in Kano on Monday.

He also urged them to patient and await the outcome of the meeting of the party’s national leaders to be held at the end of the month.

The PDP stalwart assured that those among the stakeholders aspiring for an elective office would find a platform on which to contest.

“The purpose of this meeting is to intimate you with the current happenings in our party and to urge you to be patient as efforts are being made to find a way forward.

“The gathering was also convened to allay your fears and anxiety, and to assure you that those of you wishing to contest for an elective position in the coming elections would have a platform to contest,”he said.

Lamido said he remains a loyal member of the PDP despite what he described as myriad of injustices meted out to him and his loyalists.

He,however, said that he and his loyalists are open to alliance with other political parties, depending on the outcome of the crucial meeting of the party’s national leadership scheduled to hold at the end of December.

The PDP bigwig also informed the gathering that he had held consultations with key stakeholders in the PDP, including former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and other party chieftains, who had assured him that they are working towards finding a lasting solution to the party’s teething problems.

“By the end of this month,we shall know where we are going ,but I and my loyalists are open to alliances with any political parties,” he said.

The meeting was attended by PDP stalwarts, including all commissioners, 27 local government chairmen, and 30 lawmakers who served during Lamido’s administration in Jigawa State.

Also present at the meeting were key party stakeholders and women leaders from all the 27 local government areas of the state.
