The Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has inaugurated a Membership Revalidation Committee in response to directives from the National Secretariat of the Union.
A statement by the Acting Secretary of NUJ Jigawa State Council , Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, says the strategic initiative is aimed at strengthening the integrity of journalism practice in Jigawa State by ensuring accurate registration and representation of journalists across all chapels.
The National Secretariat recently launched a dedicated online platform for journalists’ registration, making it necessary for all state councils to revalidate their membership records.
The Membership Revalidation Committee comprises the following members:
- Auwal Muhammad Kazaure – Chairman (NTA Chapel)
- Garba Yakubu – Member (Freedom Radio Dutse Chapel)
- Umar Akilu Majeri – Member (Correspondents Chapel)
- Bushira Muhammad Yakasai – Member (FRCN Horizon FM Dutse Chapel)
- Sani Muhammad Gumel – Member (Radio Jigawa Chapel)
- Alhassan Aliyu – Member (Jigawa Television – JTV Chapel)
- Muhammad Umar Hadejia – Secretary (Information Chapel)
“The establishment of this committee is solely intended to ensure the collection of accurate and updated data on all registered journalists in Jigawa State.” ” It is not targeted at any individual or group, but rather designed to support the National Secretariat’s nationwide effort to streamline journalists’ records, including those from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).” Comrade Shuwajo declared
