The construction of the multipurpose hall of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Kano State Council has reached an advanced stage.
Leading members of the State Administrative Council, SAC, to inspect the project, the chairman, Comrade Kabiru Inuwa,made this known during an inspection visit to the project site.
Speaking at the 500-capacity hall, Comrade Inuwa, expressed satisfaction with the level of work achieved so far.
The NLC Boss, said the hall, when completed, will provide a central venue for over forty affiliate unions to hold meetings and other official functions, describing it as a major convergence point for labour solidarity in the state.
He expressed optimism that the project, estimated at about three hundred million naira, will be completed later this year, in line with the commitment made by the contractor handling the work.
The NLC chairman also commended Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, whom he described as labour-friendly, citing the governor’s consistent support to organised labour. According to him, this support includes capacity-building workshops, welfare packages, as well as the release of gratuities for retirees and death benefits for deceased workers.
He assured that the labour movement in Kano State would continue to support policies and programmes that promote workers’ welfare and development.
