The National Deputy Chairman of the Labour Party, Comrade Salisu Muhammad, has said the party is fully prepared for the forthcoming 2027 general elections, noting that the placement of candidates across various constituencies has been concluded.
Speaking on a national television programme, Comrade Muhammad said the party would build on the momentum it generated during the 2023 elections, stressing that the Labour Party has functional structures across the 774 local government areas of the country.
He highlighted the important role of workers in both the public and private sectors, pensioners, women and youths in strengthening the party and advancing its social-democratic ideals.
“Workers, women and youths are not merely supporters; they are key strongholds of the party. Their participation ultimately reflects the inclusivity for which the Labour Party is known,” Muhammad said.
He added that social justice and a people-centred economy would receive priority attention under the party’s social-democratic approach.
“Social justice and a people-centred economy will receive priority attention,” Comrade Muhammad declared.
The Labour Party chieftain also appealed to the electorate not to be distracted by material inducements during the 2027 elections, urging voters to pay greater attention to competence and the capacity of candidates to deliver on their responsibilities.
