Kebbi Police Command Arrests Man For Attempted Murder, Robbery, Recovers Stolen Motorcycle

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested Bello Abubakar (male, aged 45, of Ganwo Village, Yauri LGA) in connection with attempted culpable homicide and robbery.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command,SP Bashir Usman, said the incident occurred on 23rd August 2026 at about 1600hrs, when Bello Umar (male, aged 22), a commercial motorcycle rider of Wasagu Village, Danko/Wasagu LGA, was found with a serious head injury at Tungar Dariya Bush, near Makera Village, Shanga LGA.
According to the statement,the victim was evacuated to Koko General Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
It said investigation revealed that the suspect hired the victim’s motorcycle from Koko Town to Tungar Dariya Bush, where he attacked the victim with a hoe, covered his body with leaves believing he was dead, and made away with the motorcycle to Yauri Town.
Through diligent investigation, the statement said,the stolen motorcycle was traced and recovered, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
“The suspect is cooperating with investigators. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, psc, MNIM, described the act as despicable and a direct assault on human life and livelihood.
“He warned that the Command will hunt down and prosecute anyone who preys on commercial motorcycle riders or any law-abiding citizen. He commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift action,” the statement added.
