    Kano Govt To Spend N432.4bn On Education In 2026 Fiscal Year

    Kano State Government is to spend the sum of N432.4 billion to transform the state education sector during the 2026 financial year,the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Alhaji Musa Sulaiman Shanono,has said.

    Shanono disclosed the estimates while briefing journalists on the breakdown of the state’s 2026 approved budget on Friday.

    He said the figure represented 29.4 percent of the state’s total budget of N1.368 trillion for 2026,which he said, surpassed the UNESCO declaration of 26 percent.

    Giving the breakdown of the allocation,the commissioner said the sum of N50 billion would be spent on the construction of new secondary schools across the state, while the sum of N15.2 billion would be spent on the state’s Free Education Programme.

    Similarly,he said, the government would spend N5 billion on the construction of 100 laboratories in 100 schools and another N5 billion to complete the construction of School of Islamic Studies/Technical Schools in the 44 local government areas of the state.

    Furthermore, Shanono said, the sum of N25 billion would be spent on the construction of Duplex Classroom Blocks across the state, while N2.5 billion would be spent on the completion of the Bilingual Girls College in Zinder,Niger Republic.

    He also disclosed that the sum of N5 billion would be spent on the conduct of Internal and External Examinations(NECO, UTME, BECE and SSCE), while N5 billion would be spent on procurement of computers, computer tables and chairs for various secondary schools across the state.

    The government then allocated the sum of N3 billion for the construction of wall fencing at some selected boarding schools across the state,in addition to the provision of N1 billion for the rehabilitation of Mosques and Toilets at various schools across the state.

    The commissioner reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the continued rejuvenation of the education sector by injecting more resources into the system.
