    Kano Executive Council Condems Female Patient’s Death Due To Negligent Surgery

    The Kano State Executive Council has condmned the death of a female patient at the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, where a pair of scissors was reportedly left in her abdomen during surgery.

    The state Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs,Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya,sounded the condemnation while addressing Journalists on the outcome of the 37th meeting of the State Executive Council held at the Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

    Wayya said the council described the incident as a grave act of negligence, and assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.

    “The Executive Council expressed deep concern over the death of a female patient at the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, where a pair of scissors was reportedly left in her abdomen during surgery.

    “The Council condemned the incident, describing it as a grave act of negligence, and assured the public that investigations into the matter would be pursued to their logical conclusion.

    “It also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring quality healthcare,” he said.

    The Commissioner then announced that the Council had approved a total of ₦8.53 billion for the execution of critical infrastructure, health, education, water supply and social welfare projects across the state.

    He said the projects would cover several Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and were designed to enhance service delivery, public safety and socio-economic development.

    He said a major component of the approvals was the sum of ₦3.1 billion earmarked for the supply of non-ferrous aluminium sulphate (alum) for water treatment across the state for six months in 2026, under the Ministry of Water Resources.

    The Council also approved ₦1.7 billion for the construction of a two-coat surface dressed road linking Chiromawa to Garun Babba in Garun Malam Local Government Area.

    Other key approvals,the commissioner said,included ₦677.5 million for the reconstruction, rehabilitation and renovation of Rogo General Hospital following a recent fire outbreak, and ₦520 million for the procurement of a CT scan machine at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.

    Additionally, ₦660.3 million was approved for drainage construction and interlocking works in Ayagi-Aisami, Bakin Ruwa Ward of Dala Local Government Area.

    Comrade Waiya further disclosed that the Council approved funds for the construction of an orphanage hostel at the Nassarawa Children’s Home, renovation of Government Junior Secondary School (GJSS) Tatsawarki in Kumbotso Local Government Area, and compensation for farmlands affected by the construction of five small earth dams across selected local government areas.

    The Council also okayed the construction of the Arewa Knot and multi-tiered fountains at Alfurqan and Baban Gwari roundabouts, as part of efforts to improve urban aesthetics.

    The commissioner added that the State Government is commited to prudent utilisation of resources and sustained investment in projects that directly impacted the lives and wellbeing of residents of the state.
