Kano Correspondents’ Chapel Launches Tea Break For Relaxation, Unity

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has launched a social welfare initiative tagged:“Tea Break” to promote relaxation, unity and camaraderie among its members.

The programme which involves regular provision of tea, suya and other light refreshments at the chapel’s secretariat, was officially unveiled by the chapel’s leadership during a brief ceremony attended by members and invited guests.

Unveiling the initiative, Chairman of the Chapel, Alhaji Murtala Adewale, said the initiative was conceived to relieve reportorial stress among members.

Adewale also explained that the gesture was launched to provide members with a “relaxed atmosphere to network and bond after long hours of field assignments and other editorial deadlines.”

“Journalism is a highly demanding profession. This initiative provides our members with a space to refresh themselves, exchange ideas and build stronger professional and social bonds,” he said.

The chairman said the chapel leadership remained committed to sustaining the gesture, noting that the Tea Break would serve as a platform for fostering unity, strengthening cooperation and improving members’ welfare.

“We want to remain united, and as such, this gesture will be sustained. The leadership will continue to build on this tempo to ensure a good and harmonious working relationship among members,” he stressed.

Adewale further assured that the Correspondents’ Chapel would continue to roll out welfare-driven programmes that would promote the professional well-being of journalists in Kano.

Guests at the launch described the initiative as a creative step towards enhancing solidarity and teamwork among members of the chapel, stressing that such informal platforms could go a long way in improving morale and productivity within the profession.

“This Tea Break Initiative is surely a veritable refreshment for members of this chapel,in addition to promoting brotherliness, understanding as well as cross fertilization of knowledge and ideas among us.

“The programme will also encourage members of the chapel to be constantly visiting the Secretariat to access its newly- improved facilities towards the enhancement of their editorial output,” the benefiaciaries added.
