In a bid to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Kano State,Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed all Emirs in the state to uphold the annual Durbar(traditional horse riding) festival.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf also pledged the full support of Kano State Government to the Emirates to ensure that the centuries-old tradition(horsemanship) is preserved, strengthened and showcased to the world.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Saturday, said the governor gave the directive at the opening of Kanfest(Kalankuwa) 2025 Organized to celebrate Kano’s cultural diversity, empower creatives, engage yourh and women, and global partnership that place the state on the world’s cultural map.
The governor assured the committement of his administration to continue to invest in the promotion of arts, culture, and tourism as vital instruments of social cohesion, youth engagement and economic diversification.
In a remark, the Emir of Kano and Chairman of the State Council of Emirates, Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II appreciated the foresight of Kano State Government of restoring the diminished and valuable traditions of Kano people.
The three day event will feature cultural and local cuisine exhibitions, performances, games,drama,crafts, fabrics, pottery and paper presentations from resource persons among others.
It also attracted participants that included, traditional tittle holders, members of the diplomatic corp, artisans, cultural groups, investors, youth and artists among other stakeholders in the culture and tourism Industry.
