Jigawa state government has been urged to expand and upgrade Maigatari–Gumel road into a Trunk a dual carriageway for the increase in commercial traffic along the Export Processing Zone Market corridor.
The Chairman Board of Trustees, Gumel Emirate Foundation Alhaji Mohammed Sani Ahmed, Dan-Amar of Gumel, made the appealing in a Press released noting for the successful revival of Maigatari EPZ’s project done by His Excellency, Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State.
Alhaji Mohammed Sani Ahmed said the Export Processing Zone, is a landmark project that had remained dormant for more than Two decades, and its part of historic achievement represents a milestone in the economic development of Jigawa State and signals the beginning of a new era of industrial growth, investment, and shared prosperity for the people of the region.
He expressed the Foundation applauds Governor Namadi’s visionary leadership and strategic commitments to economic transformation, through the revitalisation of the EPZ and the creation of a business-friendly environment supported by the critical infrastructure, the administration has positioned Maigatari and it’s surrounding communities as emerging hubs for trade, commerce, and industrial activity.
The Chairman added that, the Foundation pleased by the engagement of foreign investors, including a consortium of Chinese-backed companies, in advancing the development of the zone. Their participation is expected to attract substantial investment, stimulate industrial production, expand export opportunities, and create sustainable employment for Thousands of residents, which includes direct and indirect job creation, increased commercial activity, enhanced revenue generation, skills development, and improved living standards.
The Dan-Amar of Gumel further said, the people of Gumel Emirate pledge their full support and cooperation to the state government, investors, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the security, sustainability, and long-term success of this transformative project. We remain committed to fostering a peaceful, stable, and conducive environment in which businesses can flourish and investment can thrive, he added.

In another development, the Gumel Emirate Foundation acknowledged the Jigawa state government concern for improving healthcare delivery through the establishment of a Free Dialysis Centre at Gumel General Hospital.
The Chairman Board of Trustees Gumel Emirate Foundation Alhaji Mohammed sani Ahmed said the initiative stands as a clear demonstration of the Governor’s people-oriented administration and his determination to ensure that quality healthcare service are accessible to all citizens, particularly the vulnerable and economically disadvantaged members of the society.
He noted that kidney disease is one of the most challenging and costly health conditions to manage, with dialysis treatment often beyond the reach of many patients due to prohibitive cost. In which by providing dialysis services free of charge, the Jigawa State government has not only eased the financial burden on affected families but has also restored hope and dignity to patients battling chronic kidney ailments.
The Dan-Amar of Gumel also said, the establishment of the facility is not merely a healthcare intervention; it is a life-saving investment that reflects the administration’s commitment to human capital development and social welfare, at a time when the cost of dialysis treatment continues to rise across the country, in which since the commencement of services in January 2026, the centre has recorded significant achievements by available data indicate that 53 patients have benefited from the facility, while a total of 383 dialysis sessions have been successfully conducted. These figures underscore the critical importance of the centre and the positive impact it is making in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the people.
The Chairman Board of Trustees Gumel Emirate Foundation further, urged the Jigawa state government to install a solar power system in the centre in order to enhance uninterrupted service delivery, and significantly reduced the centre’s operational expenses, thereby enabling it to better fulfill its mandate to the people of the state.
