    Gov Idris Dissolves KEBSIEC Board, Reaffirms Commitment To Electoral Independence

    The Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission(KEBSIEC.)

    This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, and issued by the Director, Executive Council, Kabiru Hassan Wasagu, on Tuesday.

    According to the statement, the dissolution takes effect from September 18, 2026, following the expiration of the Board’s tenure.

    “I am directed to inform you that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission following the expiration of its tenure, with effect from September 18, 2026,” the statement said.

    It added that two other members of the Commission whose tenure has not yet expired will remain in office pending the reconstitution of the Commission.

    Governor Idris commended the outgoing members for their meritorious service to the state and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the independence and integrity of KEBSIEC.

    “I am assuring you of the renewed determination of this administration to protect the independent status of the Commission,” he said.
