Gargari Ward Expels Kano NNPP Chairman Hashimu Dungurawa,Alleges Poor Leadership

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Gargari Ward Executive Committee of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State has expelled the State Chairman of the party, Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, for alleged poor leadership, insubordination, and actions said to have fueled persistent internal crises within the party.

Dungurawa, who is from Gargari Ward, was expelled following a second resolution meeting of the ward executive committee, convened to deliberate on what members described as repeated complaints against his leadership style and conduct as state chairman.

Speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of NNPP Gargari Ward, Shu’aibu Hassan, said the decision was unanimously adopted “in the interest of safeguarding party unity, discipline, and internal democracy.”

According to the ward executives, Dungurawa failed to provide inclusive, consultative, and responsible leadership expected of his office.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the Gargari Ward Excos accused the NNPP state chairman of “unnecessarily expelling and suspending active and supportive party members,” a move they said weakened the party’s grassroots structure and created fear, resentment, and disaffection among loyal members.

They further alleged that Dungurawa displayed insubordination to the Executive Governor of Kano State, an action they described as “damaging to party cohesion and harmful to the relationship between the party and the state government.”

The executives said these actions contributed to the division of party members into rival factions, deepening internal wrangling and undermining confidence in the party across the state.

“This decision was taken in the best interest of the NNPP. The continuous crisis, disregard for party hierarchy, and the unnecessary expulsion of committed members have weakened the party structure.”

The ward executive committee stressed that the expulsion takes immediate effect, adding that from now on, Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa should stop calling himself a member of the NNPP, as he no longer has the right to represent or speak on behalf of the party at any level.

They added that the resolutions of the second ward excos meeting have been formally documented and forwarded to the relevant party authorities at the local government, state, and national levels for necessary action in line with the NNPP constitution.

The Gargari Ward Excos reaffirmed their loyalty to the NNPP and pledged continued support for the administration of the Kano State Governor, emphasizing that unity, discipline, and respect for party rules remain critical to the party’s stability and political future.

As at the time of filing this report, Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa had not issued any official response to the expulsion or the allegations leveled against him.

The development highlights the growing internal tensions within the NNPP in Kano State, with party stakeholders calling for adherence to party constitution, dialogue, and reconciliation to restore cohesion and confidence within the party.
