Former Kano governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau emphasizes that an economy without access to food is a serious crisis.

He said existing challenges such as poverty and insecurity are likely to escalate.

Malam stresses the importance of addressing food insecurity, highlighting its potential impact on the nation’s stability .

He was briefing newsmen at his residence,Wednesday, on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary

Malam Shekarau said he had learned countless lessons over the decades of both joy and hardship and now finds fulfillment in the tranquility that comes from faith and forgiveness.

‎“I forgive those who hurt me,” he said, “and I ask those I have ever hurt to forgive me. I don’t have much to leave behind, but I have learned a lot of lessons through these 70 years good and bad. Islam has guided me to the true path, and that is what I enjoy now.”

‎The former governor expressed gratitude to Allah for granting him long life and the grace to witness his 70th year, describing it as “a gift that only God can bestow.”

‎“I am grateful to Allah for sparing me these years to see today. It’s indeed from His goodness, and I truly appreciate,” he said softly.

‎Shekarau also urged people, especially the younger generation, to live in peace and avoid unnecessary conflicts driven by ambition or material pursuit.

On politics , he reaffirmed his commitment and support to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying that despite internal and external crisis rocking the party, it would remained the leading opposition in the country, hoping to win presidency.
