An atmosphere of reflection and quiet emotion filled the halls of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development as former minister, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, formally handed over the reins of leadership, bringing his tenure to a close.
Addressing distinguished colleagues, staff, and stakeholders, Dangiwa described the moment as both “personally and professionally significant,” marking the end of a chapter defined by service, reform, and national commitment.
With visible gratitude, he paid tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with what he called a “rare privilege” to serve at the highest level of government. He noted that contributing to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda particularly in expanding access to affordable housing and strengthening urban development remains one of the most fulfilling experiences of his public service career.
Dangiwa also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, whose support and confidence, he said, paved the way for his national appointment and inspired him throughout his time in office.
In an emotional tone, the outgoing minister acknowledged the  dedication of the ministry’s workforce. He praised the Permanent Secretary, management, and staff for their resilience and professionalism, noting that their collective efforts made key achievements possible despite challenges.
He reserved special recognition for his aides, describing them as loyal and diligent partners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the office.
Beyond the ministry, Dangiwa highlighted the critical role of stakeholders across the housing and built environment sector developers, professionals, and institutions whose collaboration, he said, helped drive reforms and lay foundations for lasting impact.
As he stepped aside, Dangiwa welcomed his successor, describing the incoming minister as a seasoned technocrat and engineer capable of advancing the ministry’s mandate. He urged staff and stakeholders to extend the same cooperation and support they had given him.
“I leave with a deep sense of fulfilment,” he said, expressing optimism about the future of Nigeria’s housing sector and calling for sustained collaboration and innovation.
The ceremony closed with hopeful note, as Dangiwa offered prayers for the nation and expressed enduring respect for all who were part of his journey.
