Bandits Escalate Mayhem,Shanono Inhabitants Cry For Help

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The security situation in Faruruwa and other towns and villages in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State is deteriorating with bandits unleashing more mayhem on the inhabitants.

The bandits have been invading Faruruwa,Tsaure,Dan Shado, Gwauron Dutse,Furaku,Yanganau, Unguwar Tsamiya, slaughtering people, kidnapping others and carting away herds of cattle.

The Chairman of the Security Committee of Faruruwa and the surrounding communities, Alhaji Yahaya Umar Bagobiri, stated this while addressing Journalists in Kano on Saturday.

Bagobiri said despite the deployment of security personnel to the affected areas, the bandits are still attacking, killing and abducting people and carting away their valuables.

Bagobiri who spoke through Prof.M.D.Mukhtar, said the bandits are crossing in from the neighbouring Katsina State through a border opening in Tsanyawa Local Government Area and perpetrating their dastardly acts.

According to him,the bandits have diverted their terror to border towns in Kano State following the Peace Accord they reached with the Katsina State Government which restrained them from unleashing their mayhem in the neighbouring State.

“We appreciate the deployment of security personnel to the affected areas by the Federal Government but the exercise has not stopped the security breach,as the bandits are still terrorizing our communities.

“Many inhabitants of the affected towns and villages have fled and taken refuse in Kano city and other safer areas outside the State.

“We are afraid that unless the banditry is addressed, the terrorists will escalate their attacks to other Local Government Areas, including Bichi, and from there, they may reach Kano, the State Capital,” Bagobiri said.

He,therefore, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to work with his new Service Chiefs to re-strategize and defeat the bandits in order to restore peace, law and order in the affected communities.

He also urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to join hands with President Tinubu,as well as cooperate with and support the security personnel deployed to the state so as to address the situation.

Bagobiri then advised Governor Yusuf to work with his Katsina State counterpart to fashion out ways to block the border points through which the bandits are infiltrating Kano from Katsina State.
