ABK Campaign Organization Condemns Dr. Bashir Kurfi’s Arrest,Says Action Violates Freedom Of Speech

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita(ABK) Campaign Organization has strongly condemned the arrest of Dr. Bashir Kurfi by the police in Katsina, describing the action as “a blatant violation of his human right and freedom of speech.”

The condemnation is contained in a statement issued by the Spokesman of the ABK campaign organization,Malam Abubakar Ahmed.

“This arrest,we strongly believe, is in furtherance of the moves by the APC administration in the state to silence all voices that criticize its activities, especially with regards to the ever increasing insecurity in which Dr. Kurfi remains at the forefront of calling on the state government under Governor Dikko Radda to do more in safeguarding the people’s lives and property.

“Kurfi, a critic of all the problems in Katsina State and Nigeria, has recently alleged that the Katsina State government had used public funds to sponsor some bandits to perform the just-concluded 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. We expected both the state government and the security agencies to respond to the allegation in a convincing way rather than through intimidation.

“We, therefore, urge in strong terms that Dr. Kurfi be released from police custody and be charged to court,” ABK said.

It also called on the state government to “restrain itself from overheating the political atmosphere as we have few weeks left to the commencement of political activities, including campaigns.

“We also wish to call on all security agencies to be apolitical, maintain law and order and not to be lured by those in power to truncate the next election circle,” the statement added.
