    Akwa Ibom Police Command Partners PWAN To Strengthen Criminal Justice,Rule Of Law

    The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has organised a 2-day intensive training workshop for its officers in its to efforts to strengthen the criminal justice system and promote the rule of law.

    A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer,DSP Timfon John,said the programme focused on the effective implementation of the Administrative Criminal Justice Law of Akwa Ibom State, 2022, and other complementary laws.

    Timfon said the training held from October 30th to 31st, 2025, at the Alkali Baba Conference Hall, Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo,and was facilitated under the Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative, also known as Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN).

    In his opening address, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, commended Partners West Africa Nigeria for their strategic synergy and collaboration with the Command.

    CP Azare said the initiative is a critical component in strengthening the overall security architecture of the state by ensuring that police operations are firmly grounded in the principles of the rule of law.

    He urged all participating officers to take the training seriously, describing them as “fortunate to be part of this crucial exercise.”

    He emphasized that “no knowledge is a waste,” and charged them to absorb the insights from the training to enhance their professional conduct and service delivery to the people of Akwa Ibom State.

    The representative of Partners West Africa Nigeria, Ms. Aisha Abubakar, expressed her profound gratitude to Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare,for the opportunity to extend the intellectual session to officers of the Command.

    Abubakar also appreciated the participants for their engagement and promised them a productive and enriching learning experience.

    During her presentation, Ms. Abubakar stressed that the initiative is designed to “refresh and remind officers about the rule of law.”

    She delivered an insightful presentation on the profound responsibility borne by law enforcement officers, stating that “When you listen to a survivor’s story, you are holding their hope for justice in your hand.”

    She said Police Officers are the most visible face of justice and are at the forefront of the law, emphasizing the importance of timely justice, and noted that “delaying justice is denying justice,”

    MS. Aisha Abubakar urged the participating officers to let the principles of the initiative prevail through their professionalism, encouraging them to become ambassadors of positive change within the Force.

    In his concluding remarks, CP Azare thanked Partners West Africa Nigeria for their invaluable partnership and assured all participants of a conducive and stress-free learning environment for the duration of the training.

    He wished them success and looked forward to the positive impact of the training on policing standards in the state.
