    Kano Executive Council Ratifies 2025 Supplementary,Amendment Budget

    The Kano State Execution Council has ratified the 2025 Proposed Supplementary and Amendment Budget of ₦889,277,880,957.81 for various services during the year.

    The state Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Amb. Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the 30th meeting of the council held on Wednesday.

    Wayya said the figure reflected an upward adjustment of ₦169,522,463,294.81 over the originally approved budget of ₦719,755,417,663.00.

    He said the supplementary appropriation is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the government to deliver on its core mandates and emerging obligations.

    According to him,the council has directed the immediate transmission of the proposed supplementary budget to the Kano State House of Assembly for legislative action and passage of the estimates.

    The commissioner also announced that the Executive Council had approved the sum of
    ₦14,828,867,679.04 for the execution of various development projects across the State.

    Such projects, he said, included the conversion of Gaya Orphanage Home to a Female Drugs Reformatory Institute and Construction of a Standard Transit Centre in Gaya Local Government Area which would cost ₦1,383,318,648.25,and the revocation and Re-award of Contract for the Construction of Jaba-Gayawa Road at ₦3,749,120,452.25.

    He also disclosed the revocation and re-awarding of contract for the dualization of Dakata-Yadakunya (Bela) Road at the sum of ₦6,147,010,996.10, and construction of Badgery Road to Yusuf Road in Nassarawa Local Government Area at the cost of ₦522,038,561.21.

    For the state Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, Amb. Wayya further disclosed, the council approved printing of security documents by the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting PLC at the sum of ₦129,000,000.00,and the expansion of scope of work at the Ministry at ₦753,968,746.38.

    For the Ministry of Health, he said, the council approved the renovation/rehabilitation of Sabo Bakin Zuwo Maternity Hospital (Jakara) at ₦364,508,253.28,the general renovation of existing Infrastructure at School of Health Technology Bebeji at ₦294,469,189.83,and the supply and Installation of Solar Energy Systems to Five Maternity Facilities to cost ₦113,986,236.00.

    Other approvals for the ministry are:supply of Drugs and Consumables to Hasiya Bayero, Murtala Muhammad, and Yadakunya Hospitals (July–September 2025) at ₦112,350,593.00,renovation/Rehabilitation of Newly Procured House at Zango Quarters, Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital at ₦272,177,172.84,supply of Working Materials to Two Newly Renovated Wards at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital at ₦128,006,452.00, and the
    general Renovation and Construction of Additional Facility at Zakirai Primary Health Care Centre (Phase I) to cost ₦379,282,039.62.

    The state Ministry of Water Resources, the commissioner further announced, the council approved the settlement for Supply of 120,000 Litres of Diesel and 17,000 Litres of PMS (February 2025) at the sum of ₦310,000,000.00.

    He said the council approved for the state Ministry for Rural and Community Development, the rehabilitation of Five Mini Earth Dams in Various LGAs (Madobi, Gwarzo, Garun Malam, Kibiya, Ajingi) at the sum of ₦169,630,338.28.

    “The government of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, remains fully committed to its vision of rebuilding a better Kano State. These approvals reflect a purposeful and strategic approach to governance, targeting key areas that will bring tangible dividends of democracy to the good people of Kano State.

    “We urge the citizens to continue supporting government policies and remain vigilant in monitoring the implementation of these projects, as we collectively strive to move Kano State to greater heights,” the commissioner added.
