2027:I Am Willing To Work For Any Arrangement To Secure Nigeria – Sule Lamido

Former Governor of Jigawa State and PDP chieftain,Alhaji Sule Lamido, says he is willing to work for any arrangement to secure Nigeria, come 2027.
Such arrangement, Lamido said,could either be in his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), or outside of it.
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs made the remark while addressing Journalists in his office in Kano on Tuesday.
“I am willing to work for any arrangement within the PDP or outside the PDP for a secure Nigeria in 2027,” he said.
Lamido, however,dismissed speculations that he might dump the PDP and join the African Democratic Congress(ADC).
He said that he is in PDP and would continue to remain in the PDP, despite the challenges the party is currently facing.
“I am PDP, I remain in PDP.Even though PDP has got some problems,I am in PDP because I can’t simply walk out of my skin and crawl in flesh and blood and be conferred with a smaller skin called ADC.I cannot,” he said.
The former Governor explained he has a history in the PDP during which he went through many travails as well as many achievements and as such, he cannot leave the party.
“I got a history with the PDP. I was detained, I was harassed or blackmailed.My office was burnt, my house was about to be burnt and my family were humiliated and maligned because of PDP, ” he said.
Lamido said the PDP also honoured him and made him Minister and also a Governor,and as such he cannot leave the party.
“The PDP also honoured me and made me a Minister and also a Governor.Therefore,I cannot simply renounce my history, my legacy and my heritage and say, look, today,I got something new.I am out of PDP.I will not do that,” the PDP bigwig further pointed out.
On the proposed creation of new states in the country, the former Jigawa State Governor said the desire and agitations are legitimate but that they must be anchored on the current issues facing the nation.
Such issues, he said, include insecurity, poverty, hunger and division between the North and the South which according to him, are more pressing and demanding than states creation.
The former Minister added that he had no problem with state creation if the exercise would address the aforementioned problems bedeviling the country.
