Kano Rerun:NNPP Wins One Seat,Loses One To APC

The ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has won the Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency by-election held in Kano State on Saturday.
The party, however, lost the supplementary election in Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency to the opposition All Progressives Congress(APC).
Adamu Shitu, the Returning Officer of the election, while announcing the results of the Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency on Sunday, declared Ali Hassan Kiyawa of the NNPP winner with 16,198 votes, defeating Ahmad Muhammad Kadamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 5,347 votes.
The by-election followed the death of former APC lawmaker, Halilu Ibrahim Kundila, in April 2024.
But the APC won the Ghari/Tsanyawa supplementary election as announced by
the Returning Officer, Prof. Muhammad Waziri of the Bayero University,Kano(BUK),who declared Garba Ya’u Gwarmai winner, having polled 31,472 votes.
His closest rival, Yusuf Ali Maigado of the NNPP, however, scored 27,931 votes.
The supplementary poll was held after the initial election in the constituency was declared inconclusive.
