    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with cable vandalism and breaking and entry into the INEC Office in Jega, recovering all six stolen generators.

This is contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer,SP Bashir Usman.

SP Usman said:”On 28th August 2026 at about 0730hrs, Police operatives arrested Aliyu Muhammed (male, aged 24, of Dudduke Village, Jega LGA) in possession of bundles of aluminium cable wires concealed in a sack.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with Yusuf Dudduke (of the same address) to vandalise and steal cables from an electric pole at Dudduke Village. Yusuf Dudduke was subsequently arrested,” he said.

In a related development, following a report of breaking and entry into the INEC Office, Jega, where six generators were stolen, detectives were immediately deployed.

The operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of all six stolen generators. One of the generators had, however, already been dismantled into scrap parts for sale.

All suspects are in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, psc, MNIM, warns that vandalism of critical infrastructure, breaking and entry, and theft of government property will attract severe penalties. He urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities via 09039911876 or 07081074395,” the statement added.
