IMG 20260625 WA0384The Subcommittee on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Political Parties has reported a remarkable turnout of eligible citizens participating in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Dala, Nassarawa, Warawa, and Wudil Local Government Areas of Kano State.
The observation was made during a monitoring visit undertaken by members of the Subcommittee to assess the level of participation and the conduct of the exercise in the affected LGAs.
According to the Committee, registration centres visited witnessed large numbers of prospective voters eager to register and obtain the opportunity to participate in future elections. The development, the Committee noted, reflects increasing public awareness of the importance of voter registration and democratic participation.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on CSOs, PWDs and Political Parties, Mustapha Chiroma, described the turnout as encouraging and a positive indication of citizens’ commitment to strengthening democracy through active participation in the electoral process.
He, however, appealed for the deployment of additional voter registration facilities and personnel, particularly in metropolitan local government areas, to meet the growing demand and reduce waiting time for registrants.
“The turnout recorded at most registration centres is highly commendable. To ensure that no eligible citizen is denied the opportunity to register, there is an urgent need for additional registration machines and personnel, especially in densely populated urban areas,” he said.
The Committee further commended residents for their enthusiasm and peaceful conduct during the exercise and urged all eligible citizens who are yet to register to do so before the expiration of the registration period.
The Subcommittee reaffirmed its commitment to supporting voter education, inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, and sustained collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the success of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise across Kano State.
