The Kano State Government has made comprehensive preparations for the successful celebration of this year’s Workers’ Day.
The Head of the Kano State Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, disclosed this during a preparatory meeting held with the Commissioner for Information, representatives of labour unions, and other key stakeholders.
She stated that the state government is fully committed to organizing a grand and befitting celebration that will reflect the value and immense contributions of workers to the development of Kano State.
Hajiya Bilkisu emphasized that the cordial relationship between the government and labour unions demonstrates a shared commitment to improving workers’ welfare, fostering unity, and enhancing productivity across the state.
She further noted that Workers’ Day provides an opportunity to appreciate the resilience, dedication, and hard work of civil servants and all categories of workers.
The Head of Service also assured that all necessary arrangements, including transportation and security, have been put in place to ensure a successful and hitch-free celebration.
She commended the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), and Trade Union Congress (TUC) for their continued cooperation with the state government, noting that such collaboration is vital for maintaining industrial harmony and promoting the state’s development.
In their separate remarks, representatives of the labour unions and the Commissioner for Information reaffirmed their readiness to work closely with the government to ensure the success of the celebration.
Finally, the state government called on all workers and stakeholders to participate in the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration to further strengthen unity and promote the welfare of workers across Kano State.
