A community once associated with interreligious tensions is steadily transforming into a beacon of peacebuilding, as residents embrace dialogue, cultural expression, and collective responsibility to foster unity.
On Saturday, Yelwan Kusu played host to an interfaith dialogue and community theatre engagement organized by Victus Impact Network (VINET) with support from the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), under the Peace Across Expressions (PAX) Project.
The event brought together traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and security agencies, all of whom delivered goodwill messages emphasizing tolerance, mutual respect, and the urgent need for sustained collaboration in maintaining peace.
Speakers at the gathering stressed that lasting peace must be driven from within the community, urging residents to continue building bridges across religious and cultural divides.
A major highlight of the engagement was the use of community drama and cultural dance performances to communicate messages of unity and coexistence. Through storytelling and creative expression, performers challenged long-standing divisions and encouraged a shared vision of harmony.
