Crime Busting:Kano Police Command Profiles 2000 Drug Dealers

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Kano State Police Command says it is currently profiling over 2000 suspected drug dealers in order to take decisive action on them.

The Commissioner of Police in the state,Dr.Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the security situation in the state in the first quarter of 2026.

“I am pleased to announce that we have received over 2000 names of suspected drug dealers, with some names appearing multiple times. We are currently verifying these names and will take action soon.

“Using open-source intelligence, we have identified suspected drug dealers and are currently profiling them with a view to taking a decisive action.

“This demonstrates our commitment to leveraging technology and community support to combat crime,” Bakori said.

He said the the command had recorded significant progress in combating crime in the state.

“I am happy to report that our efforts are yielding positive results, and we are committed to building on this momentum to ensure that Kano State remains a safe and secure place for all,”he said.

The commissioner also said that the command had undergone a restructuring to enhance efficiency and quality service delivery, which according to him,had enabled it to respond more effectively to emerging security challenges and improve its overall performance.

“Our roadmap for 2026 is yielding tremendous results, and we are committed to maintaining and improving upon this momentum.

“Key strategies include enhanced community policing, intelligence-led policing, capacity building for officers, state-of-the-art cybercrime unit, synergy with other security agencies, public awareness campaigns, and the successful ‘Operation Kukan Kura’ which has contained thuggery and violence in the State,” he said.
