The Kano State Football Association (KSFA) will on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, conduct the draws for the state preliminary stage of the 2026 President Federation Cup.
The exercise is scheduled to take place at the association’s secretariat located at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
Chairman of the association, Alhaji Sharif Rabi’u Inuwa Ahlan, disclosed that the draw is in line with the directive of the Nigeria Football Federation, which mandated all state associations to conclude their preliminary matches between March 22 and April 26.
He revealed that six teams have registered to participate in this year’s competition. They include Kano Pillars FC, Barau FC, Bichi First FC, Azuhba FC, Chanji Boys FC and Pro Line FC.
According to him, the two teams that progress to the final will represent Kano State at the national stage of the competition.
Ahlan assured participating teams of a level playing field, emphasizing that the association would ensure fairness and transparency throughout the tournament.
He also announced the constitution of a four-man committee to oversee the competition. The committee is chaired by the association’s Vice Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Muhammad Chana, with Rilwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, Hassan Abdullahi Garo and Halliru Alassan Sumaila serving as members.
The KSFA chairman urged all participating teams to remain focused and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the competition.
He further called on football stakeholders across the state to continue supporting the association’s policies and programmes to ensure the growth and development of the game in Kano State.
