*Over 11 Injured as Kwankwasiyya Accuses APC of Thuggery in Rogo*

The Kwankwasiyya Movement strongly condemns alleged brazen and unprovoked attack carried out by armed political thugs linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against NNPP Members, during their peaceful and lawful political gathering in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

Dr. Habibu Sale Muhammad, the spokesperson of Kwankwasiyya Movement said in a released that, “Our members had gathered to formally receive prominent defectors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

He said, the gathering was not only peaceful but fully lawful, as the organizers had duly notified and obtained the necessary clearance from both the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS).

“Yet, in a shocking demonstration of desperation and intolerance, armed APC thugs stormed the venue, violently disrupting the event. They unleashed terror on innocent participants, injuring more than eleven people, including the NNPP Chairman of Rogo Local Government, a high-profile PDP defector who is a former National Assembly candidate, and several other supporters.”

He said, the attackers also vandalized and destroyed at least three vehicles and other valuable property belonging to our members. This attack was not accidental—it was a premeditated act of political intimidation aimed at discouraging the growing wave of defections and the unstoppable rise of the Kwankwasiyya Movement across Kano State.”

“Even more disturbing is the fact that this incident follows a similar pattern of orchestrated violence in Tudun Wada and Doguwa, where APC thugs have been repeatedly deployed to attack perceived opponents.”

” These reckless acts have already resulted in tragic consequences, including the reported killing of a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).”

Dr. Habibu notes that these developments expose the complete hypocrisy behind the so-called “Kano First” slogan constantly echoed by the state government. A government that claims to put Kano first cannot simultaneously preside over a climate of fear, violence, and state-enabled intimidation against opposition members.

“What is happening in Kano today is deeply troubling. While the machinery of government is aggressively deployed to harass, intimidate, and arrest members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, armed political thugs roam freely, unleashing violence with apparent confidence that they will not be held accountable.”

“Let it be clearly stated: the Kwankwasiyya Movement will not be intimidated, silenced, or bullied out of the democratic space. The growing support for our movement across Kano State and beyond cannot be stopped by violence, intimidation, or state-backed harassment.”

“We are carefully documenting every incident, every act of intimidation, and every attack on our members. These reports will be formally submitted to all relevant security agencies and democratic institutions for investigation and necessary action.”

The Kwankwasiyya Movement called on Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and all other security agencies to rise above partisan influence and discharge their constitutional responsibilities with fairness and professionalism. Kano must not be allowed to slide into a dangerous era where political violence becomes the norm as elections draw nearer.

He notes that, while the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains committed to peace, law, and democratic engagement, our members also have the constitutional right to defend themselves against unlawful attacks and organized political violence. We will not sit idle while our supporters are assaulted, their property destroyed, and their rights trampled upon.

“Democracy must not be replaced with thuggery, Political competition must not become a license for violence.
And Kano must not be turned into a battlefield simply because the popularity of the Kwankwasiyya Movement continues to grow.”
