In a renewed push to combat drug abuse and strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration, the League for Societal Protection Against Drug Abuse (LESPADA), Gombe State Chapter, on Wednesday paid a courtesy and introductory visit to the state secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe.
The delegation, led by the State Coordinator of LESPADA, Comrade Isma’il Muhammad, was received by the Chairman of the ADC in Gombe State, Alhaji Auwal Abba Barde.
Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Barde commended the objectives of LESPADA and expressed satisfaction with the organisation’s commitment to addressing drug abuse. He pledged the party’s full support for initiatives aimed at curbing the menace in Gombe State and across the country, stressing that effective collaboration among civil society organisations, government institutions, and the general public is critical to achieving lasting results.
He particularly emphasized the need for sustained cooperation to protect young people and promote a healthier and safer society.
In his remarks, Comrade Isma’il Muhammad thanked the ADC leadership for the warm reception and assurances of support, reaffirming LESPADA’s commitment to intensifying awareness campaigns and advocacy programmes aimed at building a drug-free society in Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
The visit, LESPADA said, forms part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with political and community stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.
