Barely seven days after the death of popular Kano medical entrepreneur, Alhaji Ado Aminu Mai Shinkafa, widely known as Alhaji Ado Lamco, a close aide and manager, Malam Abdullahi Idris, has explained why Lamco Pharmacy continues operations despite the passing of its founder.
Speaking to a congregation at the mosque built by the late Alhaji Ado Lamco, Malam Abdullahi revealed that the renowned businessman gave clear instructions before his death that the pharmacy must continue providing services, even in the event of his demise.
According to him, the late medical entrepreneur insisted that Lamco Pharmacy should never shut down because of the high number of people who rely on its services, especially patients and relatives from the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) and other parts of the state. He added that the family of the deceased immediately directed staff to uphold the founder’s wishes after his passing.
Founded over 20 years ago, Lamco Pharmacy has grown into one of the busiest medical supply centers in the region, offering essential services to hundreds of patients daily. Its reach extends beyond Kano to neighbouring states and even nearby countries such as Niger, Cameroon and Chad, whose citizens often visit AKTH for medical care.
Malam Abdullahi Idris described the late Ado Lamco as a compassionate and generous leader who treated everyone with respect, regardless of their social status. He prayed for Allah to grant him eternal peace.
Ado Lamco, aged 70, died on November 17 at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, where he was receiving treatment. His remains were returned to Kano and buried five days later at the Dandolo burial ground after a funeral prayer led by Emir Muhammad Sanusi II, which attracted a massive crowd of mourners.
He is survived by 15 Children,10 males, and 5 females.
