The police in Kano have confirmed that five persons have died and 15 others were wounded following a blast at a scrap company located on the Eastern Bypass on the outskirts of the state capital.
The police commissioner in the state,Dr Ibrahim Adamu Bokori, confirmed the blast to newsmen in Kano on Sunday.
“Preliminary findings suggest that the explosive material was being transported by a trailer coming from Yobe, but it remains unclear whether the vehicle was carrying military personnel or civilians,” Bakori said.
He said the injured persons had been rushed to the hospital for treatment,while the corpses of those who died during the incident had been taken to the morgue.
He,however,said that it had yet to be confirmed wether the incident was a bomb explosion or not,as the police personnel were investigating the matter at the premises of the scrap company .
The scene of the incident has been cordoned off by the police personnel as investigation into the incident continues.
