Police Invite Daily Nigerian Publisher Ja’afar Ja’afar Over Alleged Criminal Conspiracy

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Nigeria Police Force has invited the Publisher of the Online Newspaper, Daily Nigerian, Mr. Ja’afar Ja’afar, in connection with an investigation into allegations of criminal conspiracy, defamation of character and incitement of public disturbance.

The invitation, which was duly endorsed by a court of law, directed Mr. Ja’afar to report at the Zone One Police Headquarters, Kano, through the Zonal Intelligence Department.

A letter dated 8th September, 2025 signed by ACP Bukar Babagana on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone One, stated that Mr. Ja’afar is to appear along with one Mr. Audu Umar.

According to the letter, “the invitation is compelled by the law enforcement requirements as provided by Section 53(2)a of the Administration of Justice Act, 2015.”

It will be recalled that Ja’afar had published a report in which he described the Director- General of Protocol, Government House,Kano, Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, as a thief.

The Director-General subsequently filed a legal suit before a Kano court, alleging that the publication assassinated his character, portrayed him as corrupt, and tarnished his public image.

The court, after hearing the matter, directed the police to investigate the allegations.

The Police said the invitation is part of efforts to ensure a thorough and fair investigation into the case.
