President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged his unflinching support for the Tijjaniyya Islamic Movement in the course of its activities across the country.

Tinubu made the pledge at the Annual Zikr(Special Prayers) of the movement held at the palace of the Emir of Kano,Gidan Rumfa,on Friday.

Represented by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Tinubu appreciated members of the movement for organizing the prayer session which was attended by its members from all parts the country and beyond.

He said he had personally wanted to attend the Special Prayer but couldn’t do so because of the exigencies of office, wishing the movement success in the conduct of the session.

Speaking on behalf of the Kano State Government, Governor Yusuf announced that the government would host the next Annual Mouloud celebration of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass, Supreme Leader and Founder of the movement,to take place in the state capital in January,2027.

Yusuf said the decision followed the granting of the State Government’s request by the Shurah Council(the highest decision making body of the Tijjaniyya movement), to host the next edition of the Mouloud.

He said the government’s request for the hosting of the event, followed its successful hosting some time ago at the Sani Abacha Stadium in the state capital, during which special prayers were said for Kano State and Nigeria.

The Governor said preparations for the successful hosting of the next edition of the celebration in January would begin in earnest,” to enable members of the movement to return to Kano and pray for the people, Kano State and Nigeria.”

He then urged members of the group to pray for Kano State and Nigeria, especially as the 2027 general elections are approaching.

“I urge you to pray for Kano State and Nigeria, especially as we are approaching the 2027 general elections.Your prayers are essential for a peaceful and hitch-free conduct of the polls,” Yusuf said.

Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sunusi II, recalled that the special prayer session was instituted by the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, thanking all those who graced the annual event, especially the Tijjaniyya clerics who came from across Nigeria and abroad.

Khalifa Sanusi used the occasion to commend Governor Yusuf for his development strides in the state, which he said had positively impacted the lives of the people.

“We have seen it ourselves and received reports from all parts of the state, about your development efforts particularly in infrastructure, education and health sectors, and we pray Allah to continue to help you in your drive to better the lots of the people,” the Emir added.
