NUC Approves 28 Degree Programmes For Yusuf Maitama Sule Varsity

The National Universities Commission(NUC) has approved independent degree programmes in 28 different fields for the Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano.

The university is to commence the running of the degree courses effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Academic Secretary of university,Dr. Mudi Yakasai, on behalf of the Registrar of the institution.

Yakasai listed the approved courses to include B.Ed. Adult Continuing Education, B.Ed. Early and Childhood Education, B.Ed. Primary Education,B.Ed. Social Studies and Civil Education,B.A. (Ed.) Islamic Studies,B.A. (Ed.) Christian Religious Studies,B.A. (Ed.) History and B.A. (Ed.) English.

Others are:B.A. (Ed.) Hausa,B.A. (Ed.) Yoruba,B.A. (Ed.) Igbo,B.A. (Ed.) Fulfulde,B.A. (Ed.) Arabic,B.A. (Ed.) French,B.A. (Ed.)Creative Arts Education,B.Sc. (Ed.) Biology,B.Sc. (Ed.) Chemistry,B.Sc. (Ed.) Physics,B.Sc. (Ed.) Mathematics,B.Sc. (Ed.) Computer Science,B.Sc. (Ed.) Integrated Science and B.Sc. (Ed.) Human Kinetics.

“I am delighted to update you on the latest developments at the defunct Federal College of Education Kano, now known as the Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano.

“Recently, a team of professionals from the National Universities Commission (NUC) conducted a resource visitation and inspection to evaluate the university’s capacity in terms of curriculum, personnel, and infrastructure for running independent degree programmes.

“I am pleased to report that the University has achieved a perfect score of 100 percent in this evaluation.

“As a result, we are happy to announce that the NUC has approved the University to commence independent degree programmes in 28 different fields, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session,” the Registrar said.

With this development, he said,the institution would no longer offer the NCE programme, starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.
