The Foundation for a Drug-Free Africa, the African Continental branch of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, has appointed Ambassador Maryam Hassan, the executive director of League For Societal Protection Against Drug Abuse, LESPADA, as its Kano State Coordinator.
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, authorizes Hassan to lead awareness campaigns across Kano State using the Foundation’s official materials, name, logo and programs aimed at promoting the “Truth About Drugs” initiative. Her role includes mobilising volunteers, coordinating partner groups, and supporting community-based efforts to help create drug-free environments.
According to the appointment letter signed by the Africa Continental Coordinator, Zsuzsanna Simon, the position is voluntary and non-profit in nature. While no financial support will be provided, the Foundation pledged to supply free awareness materials in reasonable quantities to assist with public education and humanitarian outreach.
The Foundation also noted that the appointment may be withdrawn at any time through written notice, in line with its organisational policies.
Hassan’s appointment is expected to strengthen drug abuse prevention advocacy in Kano State, as the Foundation continues its mission to educate communities, youths and stakeholders on the dangers of illicit drugs and substance abuse.
The Foundation for a Drug-Free World operates in several countries, promoting evidence-based education and community engagement to reduce drug-related harm and encourage healthier, safer societies.
